Thursday 19May2022

Last night it came to the crunch at home. The washing machine needed replacing, sooner rather than later. Research needed to be done, & choices made. The night was intents, or really the singular, but it was intense-ly cold.

I also had a visit from the wraith of Hope-

lessness, with all its dooms pronounced as well.

Recalling what I say to friends who write,

that in our heavens, but also our hells,

is time to make impossible attempts-

to capture spirits, wraiths, of day and night

- even if it makes us seem a dope.

The job of finding an appropriate washing machine, and after that,  time taken in reflection, both functioned  together for me as an exorcism of that wraith of hopelessness, and a real part of my medicine, and prophylactic too, I think.

Thank you to creative love, and all those who act as the hands & feet and smile, and words & welcome… of creative love to me.

Then walking, and continuing to listen to some of the Hebrew Bible translated by Robert Alter, on Audible. A time to cry, & sing, and cogitate on this land, & my company.

(There might be 3 or 5 pages of reflections every morning. Too much to put down here. But a lot of fun & learning.. for me)

Lovely landscapes around

Stopped and put my feet up at Belfrayden Bridge.

Was going to boil the billy, but decided to just eat,  drink, and write this. Then off again  after a 40 min break.

3 km down the road(?) I came to Belfrayden itself..

& sat for another 20 min on some padded chairs that had a sign on them saying "Free" (middle of the movie above). Then, moved on..

Another half hour break with my feet up, at 2pm. Just outside Collingulie at their dump:

.

.

Had just dozed off, when a car horn sounded. It came from an Ambulence passing, that had stopped to check if I was ok. I reassured them that i was, and that I was resting my feet but was booked in to "the Gullie" tonight. This seemed good enough, and I thanked them for checking any way.

I think this practice of resting feet before getting to a pub or motel, might be a good practice. Then I can do all the jobby things when I get there.

On the way again, talked on the phone to my lady about the washing machine. .. One should get delivered Monday!

Then arrived, got room, and showered, washed clothes, hung outside and aired tent and fly to dry, off to servo to get frozen pies to take with me for tomorrow night, and some more muesli bars, and a nice coffee from Yesh, at the Metro servo here in Collingullie.

Back to my room, collect things which were out to dry, catch up with my Dad & my Lady on the phone, ready for a drink, & dinner at the pub around 6:30pm.

After a lovely dinner, big Mat, the publican, who's been here about 2 & a half years,

.

gave me a bit of a discount on the room, because ..

(I think the Movember thing? - Hey, if you haven't already, consider sponsoring the walk through Movember, &/or the Bible Society in Australia),

we squared everything up, and I told him I hoped to leave between 6 & 7am.

Hope to get a fairly early night, then up at ~5:30am, and be out about 6am, get a coffee and 2 pies from the servo, and walk off towards Coolamon. See if I can book somewhere tonight, though I'll have tomorrow night tenting on the way, to book, if there's reception in between these small villages.
