Marking Time.. My family during the last week, has gotten together ostensibly for my good woman's birthday (but months beforehand), before 3 more of our grandchildren pop out into the world. and one son-in-law mentions how 2 and 3 year olds learn the words of their books. He mentions that rhyme seems to aid memory. I think how meter can help too. Gets me thinking about what I'm meditating on with this walk. It might also be good for my grandchildren? - maybe a book with one or two poemish verses per page, and beautiful pictures expanding it out… like Each peach pear plumb, or those big animal books with a little mouse hidden somewhere in the picture. So during the night I do it's draft introduction with the words, but without pictures. If only their were artists who could add pictures to it! Maybe some of those artists might be my own children, or grandchildren?
A morning of constant rain. Goodbyes to family visiting Orange. Clean up the back yard, with a neighbour who visits.
After lunch, my good woman drops me off at the front of the place where my daughter and I had walked in from Canowindra, when we stopped walking two days before.
.
- the Cargo Road Winery, and I then walk, in the rain and cold wind, the ~10km into the city of Orange
.
.
a friend picks me up from the highway for a hot cuppa and a sit by his fire, then drops me back to the highway, and I walk to the edge of Orange High School, where my good woman again picks me up,
and takes me home for a warm shower etc. The neighbours over the road, who we are trying to do community with, have us over for a meal, and a couple of games in their loungeroom (including Jackbox). The plan for tomorrow is to join with some friends we try to have coffee and a catch up with on Sunday mornings, then start walking again from where I left off at Orange High School, Sunday or Monday. A few friends have made comments about joining me for a day or two, or a week or two, from Orange to(wards) Dubbo. It was a good time with my daughter from Canowindra.
