Day 1 of walking from Charters

(Thirst day; 08/08/2024)

Time last night reflecting… this is a pilgrimage for thinking about life, as well as just seeing it, reflecting on it!

An upshot was this reflection on someone who took walking along with creative love seriously… a bird appeared and landed on him, a wind breathed into him, a spirit moved through him… and gave him another way of living with strength… a voice was heard, and remembered, and, combined with messages from messengers brought victory! “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil…”

The plan is to wake at 6:45am, dress, pack, breakfast, head off by 7:30ish… past Woolies (buy some food) & head out of town…. via the more deserted route, with less traffic, towards Mt. Garnet..

Lovely breaky. Tea, porridge, coffee. Thanks Em, Trav, & Angus.

Down town, I met Eric who helped build the Greenvale Road (on a grader)...

He gave me the word - on getting into Woolies & onto the road.

A quick (& excellent) coffee, chicken, & chops from Red Rooster, then off North. Signs of things to come:

And

I walk past Glenn’s (& his lady's) place, just as he rings me from his truck hours away, and we talk about possibilities for the night, and a cold drink together… We’ll see what happens, but how good would that be!

I walk on and a ute pulls up… Thomas the (almost) boilermaker, stops to say G’day.

Ol’ Joog’s son. Joog helped me out after Clermont. Thomas & I talk for a bit about roads coming up…

Thanks for your help Tom; & Joog - telling your son to keep an eye out for me!.

Some time talking in the phone to a neighbour from back home and another mate, about a book I'm listening to.

@5:15pm I look back at a sign just before a turnoff to the Annabranch (I think), and see an indication of how far I've come today. That's good, for a late start, and buying stuff, etc ..

Thank you to determined relating and the giver of the ability to break big tasks down to smaller steps, then to walk them; in company!
